Joe Biden vs Donald Trump

President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump are virtually tied among voters nationwide and in key swing states, less than two weeks after Trump’s guilty verdict in his New York hush money case.

According to a CBS News and YouGov poll released on Sunday, 49% of voters nationwide would likely support Biden, while 50% would vote for Trump. In battleground states, 50% would likely vote for Biden, and 49% would support Trump. Both results fall within the poll’s margin of error of +/- 3.8 percentage points, which includes an oversample in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

The poll, conducted from June 5 to June 7, followed a Manhattan jury’s conviction of Trump for falsifying business records to influence the 2016 election.

Regarding Trump’s guilty verdict, 71% of voters who are likely to support Trump said it would not influence their vote. Additionally, 80% of Republicans polled believe Trump was charged under the direction of the Biden administration, despite a lack of evidence suggesting that the president or his officials targeted Trump, who is the presumptive 2024 Republican nominee.

Among voters planning to support Biden, 54% stated their primary reason was to oppose Trump.

Voter Demographics

In terms of voter demographics, Biden garnered support from 81% of Black respondents, compared to Trump’s 18%. Among women, 54% plan to back Biden, while 45% intend to vote for Trump.

For voters over 65, Trump leads Biden 58% to 41%. Additionally, 64% of white voters without a college degree support Trump, whereas 36% favor Biden.

The First 2024 Presidential Debate

The first 2024 presidential debate between Biden and Trump is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET on June 27, hosted by CNN.
